Paul has been living at the Community Homeless Shelter on Townsend Street in Sydney since the blaze left his apartment unlivable.
Paul’s apartment was located on Kitchener Street in Whitey Pier and he lost most of his belongings to the blaze. He moved into his apartment on Dec. 31, 2021, and the distress of losing his home of two years was clear when he spoke with the Cape Breton Post on Friday afternoon. The Community Homeless Shelter on Townsend Street where Paul has been staying since losing his apartment to a fire on Wednesday, Mar.1. SHANNON LEE/CAPE BRETON POST - Contributed“The Red Cross told me they could help accommodate me in a hotel and my social worker here is working on it too, and I haven’t heard anything from either or. They told me help could be as far as Monday,” he said.
