International Women’s Day represents the struggles, perseverance and determination of women around the world, including temporary foreign workers in Canada. - ReutersSerena Smith, of Summerside is the chairperson of the P.E.I. Advisory Council on the Status of Women, and provided the following opinion article.
In Prince Edward Island, there is an increasing population of women who are temporary foreign workers. Temporary foreign workers are individuals provided temporary access to the country for specific employment. There are opportunities to improve working conditions and workplace policies for all P.E.I. workers, including temporary foreign workers who are especially vulnerable.
