The asking price has consistently been two first-round picks and a high-end prospect, but we’re getting down to crunch time here for the Coyotes and that may change. Chychrun hasn’t suited up in 15 days and the Boston Bruins took themselves out of the mix by dealing for Washington’s Dmitry Orlov.
The Jackets were prepared to use the pick they received for Gavrikov to try to acquire Chychrun. The 27-year-old Gavrikov has been scratched for seven straight games and the Jackets are scrambling to find a dance partner to see if they can get a first-round pick in returnA league executive noted Sunday if you want Luke Schenn from the Canucks then the asking price is a second-round pick. That’s a high sum to pay for the 33-year-old veteran and it’s doubtful he’s on Ottawa’s radar screen.
