And now we have Lansdowne 2.0, and there’s no equality there that I can see. After cutting through all the complexities of this plan, what we have is the city paying out more than $400 million, and OSEG getting to build and sell hundreds of condos on public land. Some equality there. As well, the plan will be competing against the proposal for a new rink downtown from the Ottawa Senators. Again, like the Lansdowne plan, the rink will also need some kind of an assist from the city.I would like to suggest that those involved seek opinions from people who have not, or rarely visited, the last revitalization of Lansdowne. Input from this sector of the population might provide some insight on how to make this new version a success given that the last one was more or less a bust.
