The whales are coming to the Quinte Museum of Natural History.
After it’s extremely popular opening exhibit last year, the Trenton museum is set to open for its new season Wednesday with Diving Deep: A Tale of Whales Through Time. The museum’s Executive Director Deanna Way after last year’s extremely popular dinosaur exhibit, they put a lot of thought into the next exhibit.“We sat down with the folks at Research Casting International and we, you know, we went to the table and we talked about what it is that we could do and whales just kept popping up. They’ve worked on whales many a time before so it was just a very exciting thing for us to collaborate on.”https://media.socastsrm.com/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.
“They started off as land creatures and then they moved their way into the ocean. So, visitors will have a chance to learn about the ancient whales and then they’ll move into the modern whales where they’ll learn about the toothed whales and baleen whales followed by a little section conservation and what we’re trying to do to save the whale populations in our oceans.”
As with last year’s dinosaur exhibit, there will be life-sized whale skeletons created by Research Casting International.The museum opened at 99 Dufferin Avenue in Trenton last year and saw thousands of people visit the 5,000 square foot facility.She is so pleased with the support the community has shown the museum and says they still have plans to move to a much larger location.“We haven’t taken our eye off the giant prize which is a big museum which we want to move into the old RCI warehouse.
