New York's attorney general requested a court-appointed monitor to oversee the NRA's finances amid a civil lawsuit trial.
New York Attorney General Letitia James on Monday requested further action be taken against the the National Rifle Association during the second phase of the trial in a civil lawsuit against the gun rights group.James is seeking an independent monitor to be appointed by the court to oversee the organization's finances, and she also wants former NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre to be banned from returning to the group, according to the Associated Press .
Meanwhile, the NRA said the February verdict found it had been 'victimized by certain former vendors and 'insiders' who abused the trust placed in them by the Association.'LaPierre—who announced his resignation from the NRA days before the trial began in January—must repay the NRA almost $4.4 million. Another former executive, retired finance chief Wilson Phillips, owes the group $2 million.The jury found Frazer had violated his duties, but he was not ordered to repay any money.
