The gala, held at the Penn Harris Hotel in Camp Hill, featured Eddie S. Glaude Jr., a Princeton University professor, as the speaker. “Segregation is a mood, a state of mind,” Glaude said. “Laws which make segregation illegal may or may not attack the root of the evil, but the law cannot deal with the spirit directly. If there is no fundamental transformation of the person, if there is no fundamental transformation of the society, then laws can only set the stage for that to happen, not guarantee it.”
