CREDIT: Louis DeLuca for the San Antonio Express NewsGARLAND — Blum cashed in on its fourth try to win a state volleyball championship when the Bobcats rolled to a 25-10, 25-17, 25-16 victory against D’Hanis in the Class 1A final on Thursday afternoon at the Culwell Center.
The Cowgirls, playing for their first-ever state championship in volleyball, were led by Mabry Herrmann’s nine kills. Blum didn’t drop a set in six playoff matches. D’Hanis hadn’t dropped a set in the playoffs until Thursday.Blum got going early in the first set, jumping to a 6-1 lead with libero Kayden Arrington delivering hard-to-handle serves.As a result, the Bobcats were able to set up shots and they didn’t miss many. Blum totaled 14 kills on 24 total attacks with Kinsley McPherson leading the way with four.
