SYDNEY, N.S. — Students at Cape Breton University want to help each other travel to and from campus easier this school year.has been picking up students since mid-August from the JA Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport. Later this month, the union will launch a late evening service to shuttle off-campus students home from the university.
Ghuman said the shuttle is a way to alleviate stress on students unfamiliar with Sydney. Many need to track down a ride to their residences or apartments as soon as they’re off the plane. One of those students using the pickups was Sravani Tallapureddy. The first-year student from Andhra Pradesh, India, flew in on Sept. 1 from Montreal.
Ghuman said the plan for now is to run a shuttle every hour from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays for students who book ahead. Sunday will have different but still-to-be-determined timings. Sahilpreet Singh Chatha is the president of the Cape Breton University Students’ Union.
