With the loss to Woodlawn in the Division 2 final, Sydney remains without a division championship. They also came close in 2019, when they appeared in the division final.
The Sydney Academy Wildcats football team's captains, from left to right: Peyton Barter, Chaz Christmas, Connor MacDonald and Mason Robinson. All returning from last year's team, they said the loss to the Woodlawn Panthers in last year's School Sport Nova Scotia Division 2 football championship game still feels fresh. However, they feel their roster is ready to overcome the loss and bring a division championship to Cape Breton.
Highlighting the receiving corps, as well as the odd defensive assignment, is Connor MacDonald. Other players such as Christmas are expected to take on roles on both sides of the football this fall.
