Maurie McInnis has been named Yale University’s next president and is expected to begin July 1. Maurie McInnis, a cultural historian who leads Stony Brook University, will be Yale University’s next president, school officials announced Wednesday.
Until Yale’s announcement, half of the Ivy League needed a president. The list of Ivy League schools yet to name a new leader now includes Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University.and Penn recently stepped down amid scrutiny after testifying about campus antisemitism before a congressional committee. The president of Cornell announced her resignation this month.Joshua Bekenstein, senior trustee of Yale Corp.
He described McInnis as a “compelling leader, distinguished scholar, and devoted educator,” and said she brings “a deep understanding of higher education and an unwavering commitment to our mission and academic priorities. Her experience and accomplishments over the past three decades have prepared her to lead Yale in the years ahead.”
