Forecasters say New Jersey drivers could face sloppy road conditions Thursday morning because of the expected timing of the snow.
Most of the Garden State is expected to get 1 to 2 inches of snow, with some pockets of 3 inches in northeastern counties and lower amounts in the southeastern counties closer to the Jersey Shore.says precipitation will start falling as rain between 10 p.m. and midnight in the northwestern region of the state and after midnight across most other sections of New Jersey. Some fog could also develop in the northwestern region, cutting down on visibility.
The bulk of the snow will fall from about 7 a.m. to noon on Thursday, with some lingering snow showers or snow flurries possible through 2 p.m. or 3 p.m., forecasters say. After that, temperatures will plummet into the teens — and even into the single digits in some parts of northern New Jersey — Thursday night into Friday morning.
New Jersey can expect the latest winter storm to start as rain before changing to snow early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.As of early Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service has not issued any formal storm advisories or warnings. But the agency’s forecast office in Mount Holly said drivers should be aware of “some slippery travel, so leaving early tomorrow and driving slower is probably advised.”Shortly after 3 p.m.
A small storm system is expected to drop 1 to 2 inches of snow across most of New Jersey early Thursday morning, Jan. 20, with some pockets of 3 inches possible in northeastern counties, along with some sleet.
