Westlake police officers tracked down and arrested two men wanted in connection with the theft at gunpoint of a woman’s car from a Taco Bell restaurant on the west side of Cleveland.

The Cleveland Police Department at 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 30 advised Westlake police that they were pursuing a stolen 2014 black Cadillac on I-90 westbound. At 2:19 a.m., the Westlake Police Department received a 911 call from a witness who saw the Cadillac strike the median wall on the highway. Two men ran from the car.

Officers from Rocky River, Westlake, Bay Village and Cleveland converged on the area. Two Westlake officers located men matching the suspects’ descriptions walking on Gate House Lane in Rocky River. The men complied with officers’ orders and were taken into custody, according to a Westlake Police Department press release. The suspects were turned over to the Cleveland Police Department.

A press release from the Westlake Police Department credited the men for listening to officers and surrendering.A juvenile called the Westlake Police Department at 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 31 to report a suspicious man on Regency Place. The caller said the man was walking among the trick-or-treaters and appeared to be high on drugs, according to a police press release. The suspect, described as having a scruffy beard and wearing a colorful mushroom-patterned hoodie, followed groups and at times laid down in residential yards and just stared. Officers located the man on Coventry Drive. He appeared to the officers to be “zoned out.” His speech was mostly incoherent and did not make sense.
