Known for his performances in The Rowdyman, The Shipping News, Babar and others, Pinsent was 92

A native of Grand Falls, Pinsent began as a stage actor before turning to television and later film. He was an established movie actor — with more than 40 credits to his name, in films like “John and the Missus” , “The Shipping News,” “Away from Her” and “The Grand Seduction” — and was an accomplished writer, director and presenter.

“It was the start of most of the writing that I have done,” Pinsent said. “So, those were good memories anyway; to try to create something that could last this long really made me feel as though I was on to something, you know? I wasn’t going to go to the good food bank.” Very sad news. Canadian acting icon Gordon Pinsent has died at the age of 92. In a career spanning seven decades, he acted in every great Canadian show you can think of, & many great movies.
