Peel Regional Police are investigating after they say six high schools were named in shooting threats posted online.

Holy Name of Mary Secondary SchoolChinguacousy Secondary SchoolPolice have met with the administration of each school and are working hard to be prepared for any potential attack. But that is only part of the story. Somewhere out there somebody knows the person or group who would threaten these schools. And don’t think for a minute Peel Regional Police are not working around the clock to figure out who it was.

“We know there was one social media post,” said Andrews. “We have not yet identified the original source.” “We understand that the threats made are concerning to students, school staff, administrators, parents and the community at large,” said Insp. Jean-Paul St. Jules. “Our Youth and Cyber Support Service investigators are working on identifying those responsible.”

When you look at the history, it’s not like there haven’t been shootings in Peel high schools before. There have been. While many point to the 1975 mass shooting in Brampton that saw a student kill a classmate, a teacher and himself, as well as wound 13 others, you only have to go back to January of this year for a shooting outside a high school in which a teen was seriously wounded and another teen arrested.
