Mississauga and Brampton schools are working with Peel police to ensure safety of students and staff
Peel Regional Police said in an updated email statement Tuesday that the Youth Criminal Investigations Bureau is investigating the online threats to the schools in Mississauga and Brampton.
Police were made aware of the posts — initially against five schools — on March 2 and said the threats indicated that on March 10 someone would attend the secondary schools, “intending to ‘shoot them up.’” “Our Youth and Cyber Support Service investigators are working on identifying those responsible,” said Insp. Jean-Paul St. Jules, at Peel police’s 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau in a news release. “We have co-ordinated with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and the Peel Public School Board to ensure that safety plans are in place.”
