A Quebec man is facing charges after Durham police say he stole a vehicle out a plaza parking lot in Oshawa.
The victim was at a store in a plaza near Stevenson Road South and Gibb Street around 11:40 a.m. Saturday and when he walked out, he spotted his vehicle being driven out of the parking lot by a man.The man was seen inside the gas station kiosk and was arrested. Carl Hetu-Lavoie, 33, of Quebec is charged with theft of motor vehicle, possess property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possess break in instruments.

DRPS’ Project Attire is a dedicated auto theft unit addressing auto theft investigations and recovery within Durham Region. This project involves collaboration with Équité Association, a not-for-profit working to eradicate insurance crime in an effort to combat and prevent auto theft.
