If you were planning on taking the 401 through Oshawa Saturday night, expect some delays. The Ministry of Transportation is replacing the Simcoe Street South

The Ministry of Transportation is replacing the Simcoe Street South and Albert Street overpasses in Oshawa, so they will be shutting down the highway in both directions to demolish the Albert Street underpass.

The closure will stretch from Simcoe Street to Drew Street and will be in effect from Saturday at 11 p.m. until Sunday at 7 a.m. Some lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday and the highway will be fully opened by 9 a.m. Sunday.Eastbound Traffic on Highway 401: All lanes of traffic will exit at the Simcoe St. off-ramp and follow Bloor St. eastbound until reaching the next available Highway 401 on-ramp located west of Fourth Ave.All lanes of traffic will exit at the Drew St. off-ramp, proceed north to the intersection of First Ave. and Drew St., and then follow First Ave. westbound to Simcoe St. From there, traffic will travel southbound towards the Simcoe St. on-ramp to access Highway 401 westbound.

The following arterial roads will be closed and only local traffic and immediate residents will be allowed access:Closed from Third Ave. to Bloor St. East/West.For more information about the project, click
