Sunday’s program was a sterling example of what they can do: a concert in two symmetrical parts, starting with four-hand piano duets and followed by more substantial piano trios.
Wu Quian was then joined by Belle Hristova on violin and Dmitri Atapine on cello in Arensky’s ultra-popular Trio, a glittering product of the late Tsarist age and a welcome addition to any program. As with the piano duets, style was everything here, the slightly self-conscious movements were played with a measure of sentimentality and drama, and the famous Scherzo sparkled.Article content
