The Panthers travelled to Antigonish, N.S., for an anticipated showdown with perennial powerhouse St. Francis Xavier X-Women in the final regular-season game for both teams.The situation was clear – the winner of this game would clinch first place, a semifinal bye and earn the right to host the conference championship game.
UPEI, the defending conference champions, finished the regular season with a record of 5-1-0 while St. Francis Xavier went 4-1-1. The Panthers' lone loss came against the X-Women in Charlottetown on Sept. 23. The final score was 43-26.At St. F.X. Stadium, Emily Duffy provided the late-game heroics for the Panthers for the second week in a row.
