President Donald Trump on Monday blasted his health department's watchdog for a new report revealing supply shortages and testing delays at hospitals responding to the coronavirus crisis, claiming the findings were inaccurate and politically motivated.

Grimm was appointed to the post in January. The career official joined the inspector general's office in 1999 as a program evaluator. The report found many hospitals lacked enough thermometers to monitor the temperatures of its own staff and a sufficient number of masks to protect their workers while caring for infected patients.
