Stephen Ma, who is currently global controller for Nissan, will assume the CFO post on December 1. Ma, who started as an accounting analyst for Nissan North America in 1996, takes over as finance chief from Hiroshi Karube, a nearly 40-year veteran of Nissan. On Friday, Nissan also named Ashwani Gupta, the chief operating officer for Mitsubishi, COO effective at the start of next month.

The CFO appointment is the latest in a generational shift in executive leadership at the company that comes nearly a year after the November 19, 2018 arrest of Ghosn, then head of the alliance between Nissan and French auto company Renault. Authorities seized Ghosn after he disembarked a private jet in Tokyo.
