Those travelling by train between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh have been warned to brace for delays and cancellations this afternoon.

A safety inspection is being carried out on a track at Slateford and all lines have been closed. Train services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts will be cancelled, delayed or revised. Network Rail Scotland said staff have found a "small defect" and are currently carrying out repair works - the line will reopen once they are complete.The following services are still running:

While the line remains closed, travellers can access a number of Lothian bus services using their train ticket. You'll need to show your valid ticket or Smartcard to the driver when you board the bus.
