Now, the head of the organization that runs the outreach centre agrees it’s time for the centre to move.Roxanne Carter-Thompson, executive director of the Adventure Group which operates the outreach centre, says Euston Street was always meant to be temporary.

“It is more important than ever that we move out of this area," she said. "It’s not safe for anybody. It’s not safe for the client, and it’s not safe for the community. If we put people in an area where it’s not as visible, I think it also would decrease some of the issues.” However, she added the provincial government owns the actual building and decides the location, while the Adventure Group is contracted to operate it.

SaltWire contacted the Department of Housing on Sept. 1 to ask about the status of any environmental assessment, what the progress is on moving the outreach centre and what the latest data is from the provincial homelessness information system .
