He will be sentenced in March
A 19-year-old man has admitted to killing teenager Kyle Ghanie in an unprovoked attack in Northampton in August. Braydon Phillips pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Northampton Crown Court Thursday, February 9.
Mr Ghanie, 18, from Northampton, was walking with his partner at the bottom of Abington Street in Northampton Town Centre at 4.30pm on Saturday, August 20 when he was attacked by Phillips. He was punched a number of times before being left on the pavement, where emergency services attended to him. He was rushed to University Hospital Coventry, but died from his injuries two days later, on Monday, August 22. A murder case was then opened by Northamptonshire Police.Phillips, previously of Irthlingborough, was arrested and charged with murder on Tuesday, August 23 and was later remanded into custody by magistrates. The teenager originally pleaded not guilty when he last appeared in Northampton Crown Court on Friday, November 4, but today has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
