Thirty-two Nova Scotian organizations and governmental bodies are getting $2,344,250 in financial support. Eleven organizations from Central Nova and three from Pictou County are the recipients of the funding. “Thank you for all that you do. I hope that the funding that we put on the table is going to help you guys adapt to a new post-pandemic environment and to continue to offer the level of service that we've come to depend upon security from, so it's wonderful to be here with you today. We're very excited to share this news,” he said.

“It's remarkable to have this funding,” she said. “Even though this money is project money, it gave us a lot to look at with our systems and organizational improvement to do stuff that's not directly service, but it's foundational for services that allow us to do the programming we do.” According to the press release distributed on Aug. 23, The Community Service Fund is a response to the needs of community services as they struggle to meet increasing demands, reduced revenues, and decreased charitable donations as the cost of living has increased following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Connie Clement from the Antigonish Affordable Housing Society spoke about the impact this funding will have, not just in helping the society with their projects, but in also modernizing the organization's technology to better help the community. Angela Capobianco
