Two former Chanel and Ralph Lauren execs did did the unthinkable…sold laundry detergent to Net-A-Porter and Barney’s and made the “chore” of doing laundry into a chic pastime. The Laundress, an eco-friendly line of detergent and fabric care that you can wash “dry clean only” items with, was born from two fashionistas invested in building their wardrobes and confronted with the frustration of maintaining them.
The brand is a game changing luxe collection of eco-friendly detergents with the ability to wash delicate fabrics like wool, cashmere and silk at home, allowing you to reduce your dry cleaning bill and carbon footprint. “The biggest myth is that all “dry clean” garments are unwashable! Secondly, while hand washing is always the best and safest method, you can easily machine wash wool, silk, and other delicates by turning them inside out and putting in a mesh washing bag to protect.
Today, in addition to the New York store, The Laundress has a thriving business in Asia , over 1,500 wholesale accounts and over 85 products that span laundry, home cleaning, fragrance, storage and more like bleach, surface cleaner, and dish soap, as well as collaborations with Le Labo and John Mayer. Whiting and Boyd are excited to be apart of the change in the laundry industry and hope larger entities such as Unilever continue to invest in a sustainable future.
