Full-service gas pumps can be difficult to find in the city. “I don’t go out a whole lot. In fact, I don’t have the income to be able to drive all the time,' says Denton White, 68, who is missing his left leg and half of his right hand.

White is unable to pump his own gas and he's frustrated with the lack of full-serve stations in the HRM. - Ryan TaplinWhen Denton White’s nearby gas station stopped offering full service at the pumps recently, the Williamswood senior drove all the way to Lower Sackville to fuel up his sport utility vehicle.
The gas he burned doing that likely eliminates any saving, but White said he’s stopped at the Young Street Esso before and not been served. “She’s certainly not able to check the oil or put air in the tires – things that you used to be able to get at the stations that had service,” he said. “I don’t have the strength. I would end up on the ground and I would be there until somebody came to get me.”The retired business owner and manager damaged his leg in an industrial accident in 1975 when he was working for a well-drilling outfit.
