A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that took place inside a Walgreens store near Westfield Mall that left one person dead.
Michael-Earl Wayne Anthony, 33, was booked into San Francisco County Jail overnight on a charge of homicide, according to the San Francisco Sheriff's Office. Police responded to reports of the shooting on the 800 block of Market Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday night. They located a 24-year-old woman, who was later identified as Chynna Brown of San Francisco, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from life-threatening injuries.
An initial investigation found that a theft occurred during the incident, and officers identified Wayne, who was working as a private security guard at the time, as the prime suspect. The investigation is still ongoing, and witnesses or those aware of any evidence are asked to call the SFPD Tenderloin Station at 415-345-7300 or SFPD dispatch at 415-553-0123.
