More than 300 OPP patrol vehicles in the West Region, an area that encompasses Southwestern Ontario, are equipped with automated licence plate recognition devices and in-vehicle cameras as part of a $16.9-million province-wide project to modernize frontline policing, the OPP said Monday.From our newsroom to your inbox at noon, the latest headlines, stories, opinion and photos from the Toronto Sun.

The OPP has outfitted all of its patrol vehicles in the west region, an area that encompasses Southwestern Ontario, with automated licence plate recognition devices and in-vehicle cameras as part of a province-wide push by the government to modernize frontline policing.
