There was a huge line out the door and all the way to the street from Cole Harbour Place as local fans scrambled to get a spot in the small rink. "Everyone was telling me that Sid was making it, but I didn’t believe them," Pittsburgh forward Noel Acciari joked on the team's X account. The Penguins all knew it would be a special homecoming for Crosby but even some of the most hardened veterans were a tad blown away by the reception and how much it meant to the 36-year-old future Hall of Famer.
"I mean, it was the only way I was playing so there was no other option," he said."It's an expensive sport so that was a big part of it and that kind of came with it." "I'm really proud of my home and what it has to offer and the people here," he added."With all the different spots the guys got to go, hopefully they got a little sense of the place here."
