Shutouts highlight local junior hockey playoffs
If the Wellington Dukes were thinking sweep when they faced the Buzzers at St. Michaels Tuesday night those thoughts were put to bed early.
St. Mikes goaltender Jacob Gorinsky faced and stopped 48 shots while getting plenty of help at the other end in an 8-0 rout of the Dukes forcing Game 5. St. Mikes scored on four of their first 19 shots to chase Wellington goaltender Ethan Morrow early in the second period.The Dukes still hold a 3-1 lead in their best of 7 OJHL series with Game 5 Friday night at 7:30 at Lehigh Arena.Zac Brooks scored at 1:39 of the first period and that would be the only goal Picton would need while shutting out the Campbellford Rebels 2-0.Picton will likely play the Amherstview Jets in round 2.
Isaac Langdon had a goal and 2 assists as the Panthers take a 3-1 lead in that series and host Frankford in Game 5 Wednesday night.
