Junior playoff wins in Prince Edward
It was a perfect day for junior playoff hockey in Prince Edward County.
In Wellington the Dukes scored a 4-1 victory over the visiting St. Michael’s Buzzers to take a 3-0 lead in their preliminary OJHL playoff series. Barrett Joynt gave Wellington a 2-1 lead early in the second period before Edward Moskowitz and Luke Strickland added third period insurance. Trevor McDowell also scored for the Dukes as they outshot St. Mikes 39-17.Tonight the Trenton Golden Hawks are in Cobourg for Game 2 of their series. Trenton leads 1-0.In Picton hometown boy Gerrit Kempers scored 4 goals to lead the Pirates over the Campbellford Rebels 5-1.
Picton outshot the Rebels 45-19 while taking a 3-0 lead in their best of 7 series. Game 4 is in Campbellford Tuesday night.
