SYDNEY, N.S. — A Reserve Mines man is now scheduled to be sentenced in January after entered guilty pleas to driving offences.
Brandon Russell Whitty, 28, of Little Bras d’Or, Sydney, was to be sentenced on a charge of mischief and dangerous driving stemming from an accident on July 13, 2022, in Sydney.Both the Crown and defence have recommended a conditional sentence for Whitty of two years less a day. Such sentences allow offenders to serve their time in the community under strict conditions.
The recommended sentence also includes an order for restitution to the homeowner for damages along with a three-year driving ban for Whitty.With trial and plea date set, a Port Morien man was released from custody on conditions. He is scheduled to stand trial Feb. 8 on four counts of uttering threats, two counts of breaching court orders, and single counts of assault, assault with a weapon, assault by choking, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
