Call it Trump's impeachment peanut gallery. During the last two weeks, lawmakers from both sides sat through hours of testimony to witness history — and score political points
When the hearings would recess for floor votes or witness breaks, lawmakers would eagerly offer reporters their own “spin room” commentary of the big event. And after the sessions concluded, they would trot out with the House Intelligence Committee and join the rest of their team for a news conference.
Among Republicans, that includes some of Trump’s fiercest allies, like Meadows, Gohmert, Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, Rep. Andy Biggs of Airzona and Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York. But some members just didn’t want to be left out — especially Meadows, who saw his friend Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio get a starring role in the hearings as a temporary member of the House Intelligence Committee.
