Around 7 a.m., a booking deputy was conducting face-to-face interviews when they discovered an unresponsive inmate. The deputy immediately began performing life-saving measures and called for additional medical assistance. Medical professionals arrived at the incident to continue life-saving measures, however, at 7:20 a.m. inmate Francisco Salinas succumbed to the medical incident.
Preliminarily, it appears that Salinas suffered a medical episode in response to withdrawal symptoms. Additionally, it was noted in the intake process that Salinas did have a history of several chronic conditions that required a constant level of care."I have said well before, that we are continuing to see more and more inmates being booked with severe medical conditions and deadly withdrawal symptoms.
