Search-and-rescue crews are continuing to search the southern end of Willard Bay, after a 51 year-old man disappeared into the water Saturday night.
The search for a 51-year-old man who disappeared in Willard Bay over the weekend continues, state officials said in an update Monday.Robert Mittendorf, a Weber County resident, was swimming with his son near their boat Saturday night when the two were separated as a storm moved through the area. While Mittendorf's son was able to get back to the boat to retrieve a life jacket for his father, Mittendorf never resurfaced.
Multiple agencies have been involved in the active search which spans over a mile-wide area, but Mittendorf's body has yet to be located. County officials added that murky water conditions have 'complicated the search.''During this challenging time, the Utah Division of State Parks extends our thoughts to Mittendorf’s family and friends. We would like to thank the other agencies who have responded and continue assisting in this search effort,' officials said in a statement.
