Twenty-five years after being incorporated as a town, the Sault was officially incorporated as a city on Tuesday, April 16, 1912.
"Our community has been and continues to be the greatest place to live, work and raise a family," his post reads. "May our next 111+ years continue to offer that same greatness!" News of the Titanic's ill-fated sinking showed up in newspapers across the globe on April 16, 1912 - one day after a worst-case collision with an iceberg claimed around 1,500 lives and left the 'unsinkable' luxury liner in shambles at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean.
