STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOSSYDNEY, N.S. — In turning 12, her mother gave her a bottle of alcohol for her birthday. In turning 13, and after being kicked out of her home, her father gave her a scale and an ounce of marijuana and told her to start selling to support herself.
Now at 34, Scentina Marie Michael has been sentenced to a federal prison term on two counts of robbery that occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 9, 2021, in Eskasoni. During a provincial court sentencing hearing, before Judge Diane McGrath, the court was told that Michael and Gould went to a residence in the community shortly after 2 a.m. looking for drugs.The resident of the home was not overly anxious to sell the pair anything but Michael explained that Gould was in dire need of something or he was going to kill someone.The pair left and a short time later arrived at another home offering to sell a bag of cocaine for $200.
“Right now she has no source of income and limited employment experience,” said Mozvik, adding that her formative years were strained by physical and emotional abuse.
