STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOSIt still baffles me why the authorities around here seem to feel it necessary to hire people from Ontario or Halifax or elsewhere to fill key jobs in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality . I am sure we must have the skilled workers locally to fill the jobs.
Now the job of fire chief is up for grabs once again. Surely there is somebody from within the current fire-fighting staff that would make a good chief. Maybe the problem with the CBRM is they have too many overpaid consultants from off the island telling them what to do or who to hire. We are constantly being encouraged to buy local. Support the local economy. Therefore the CBRM should hire local. Hiring locally is progress. Hiring head-hunters or employees from off the island when we don't need to is just a waste of tax dollars.SaltWire Network welcomes letters on matters of public interest for publication.
