On Tuesday, the Fraser Institute released rankings of the province’s 870 elementary schools, in which Ron Brent came in last. The assessment found that two-thirds of the children were underperforming and more than a third of the school’s tests were left unwritten.
The report stated that in downtown Prince George, almost 30 or 40 per cent of the youth up to age five live in households whose earnings are at least 50 per cent below the median income in the city.Article content Compounding the problem are severe staffing shortages that disproportionately affect an institution like Ron Brent. For instance, when a classroom needs a teacher, the school plucks a non-enrolment staffer such as a counsellor or librarian to fill the role.
