in York County lost power at some point during Tuesday's storms into Wednesday, which coincided with an ongoing heat wave.
Municipalities in the area attempted to provide places to stay cool during the heat wave and outages. Manchester Township opened its Alert Fire Company in Emigsville as a cooling shelter, complete with drinks, fans, air conditioning, and electricity. "Most of the Emigsville area is without power, and has been so since the storms last evening," said Don Dull, a fire trustee in Manchester Township.
Roads throughout the township have been closed throughout the day due to downed trees and in some cases, downed utility poles, causing traffic in the Emigsville area. Met-Ed estimates that the majority of those still without power will have it restored by 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 18.
