The construction of the facility will create nearly 5,000 jobs with nearly $1 billion in economic impact, a news release stated.4:06 PM MDT July 16, 2024AURORA, Colo — Philip Morris International will build a $600 million manufacturing facility in Aurora to make Zyn nicotine pounces, bringing an anticipated 500 jobs to Adams County once it opens next year, officials announced Tuesday.
The facility will produce Swedish Match Zyn nicotine pouches for the tobacco giant. The plant is will generate an annual economic impact of $550 million for Colorado, said Stacey Kennedy, PMI Americas President and U.S. CEO, at a news conference Tuesday at the Colorado Freedom Memorial. The hundreds of jobs at the plant will have an average annual salary of around $90,000, Kennedy said. Positions range from engineering and production to quality control. The manufacturing facility will also include an additional 1,000 indirect jobs, officials said.
The company is expected to break ground on the facility later this year, Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman said. The plant, which will be housed near the Colorado Freedom Memorial, is expected to be operational in 2025. “It’s an extraordinary day for the City of Aurora, for Adams County, and no doubt, for the state of Colorado,” Coffman told the crowd gathered for the announcement.
