Some Nova Scotians who use Ozempic for diabetes are being told that they may need to check in with their doctor for other possible treatment options because of ongoing shortages of the drug.
The product is also being touted as a drug for weight loss, which is believed to be a large part of the problem. The shortage has been going on for a few months.She said the Canadian Pharmacists Association CPhA) is keeping an eye on the situation nationally and providing regular updates. She said PANS’ understanding is that increased demand meant regular production levels couldn’t keep up with the need and reserves were used up.
