that fentanyl was responsible for 20 percent of the nearly 4,000 deaths among Californians ages 15 to 24 in 2021 made an impression on state lawmakers. Now some want the state to follow the lead of Los Angeles Unified, California’s largest school district, and have every campus — from elementary to high school —with naloxone, which is sold as Narcan, the effective anti-overdose nasal spray drug credited with saving tens of thousands of lives in the U.S.
