Only 27% of Canadians believe David Johnston is credible and impartial on foreign interference: poll cdnpoli
“The issue is of significant attention for the public,” Leger executive vice-president Andrew Enns said. “I do believe it’s become something that the government’s going to have to try to deal with in some demonstrable way.”
The poll shows that more Canadians oppose Johnston’s decision not to recommend a public inquiry — 36 per cent said they disagree with it — than the 30 per cent who agreed with it. The remaining 34 per cent said they did not know or were uncertain. The House of Commons passed an NDP motion on Wednesday calling on the Liberals to replace Johnston as special rapporteur and to “urgently establish” a public inquiry into foreign interference, namely by China.
