Derek Kruger, who was first reported missing by police on Oct. 4, was last seen on Sept. 29 at an Antigonish gas station – the name of the gas station was not released. Since Oct. 4, RCMP say 13 search and rescue teams – Colchester, Pugwash, East Hants, Springhill, Halifax, Musquodoboit Valley, Eastern Shore, Sheet Harbour, Strait Area, Valley, Lunenburg and Pictou – have conducted extensive searches in the Greenfield area of Colchester County.A red Mazda Miata, which is what Kruger was believed to be driving at the time he was last seen, was found on a forest path in the Colchester County community.
Police say more than 2,000 hours of volunteer work have taken place and over 100-kilometres of dense forest, trails and roads raked. Police dog section contributed throughout the operation.On Saturday, searches in the area were suspended, however, police say they could resume if any new leads or information is provided to police. Authorities are still looking for the public's assistance in locating the man.
