Nova Scotia Health announced July 27 that there were three positive cases of Legionnaires' disease, at Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow. Later on Aug. 3 nine positive cases were announced. Nova Scotia Health continues testing surrounding water sources to find the cause of the outbreak. Since then no new cases have been announced, and the risk to the public is low.
Nova Scotia Health is still investigating the source of the outbreak however it has determined it did not originate from Glen Haven Manor. There have been no more reported positive cases of legionnaires’ disease since Aug. 3, Lewandowski said, and any risk to the public remains very low.
