Wildfire that forced an evacuation of a remote area 96 km west of the city still listed as out of control
That said, Sudbury 17, which at 5,227 hectares is the largest fire near Greater Sudbury, continues to burn out of control in a remote area 96 km west of the city.
The following areas must be evacuated immediately: the Townships of; Olinyk, Plourde , Prescott, Redden , Strain, Teasdale, Poncet, Lehman, Lockeyer, Gerow and Gaiashik, unless authorized by a travel permit issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
