Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokeswoman denounced UN Secretary-General António Guterres for saying Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack that killed an estimated 1,400 people 'did not happen in a vacuum.' Guterres addressed the UN Security Council describing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the need for a two-state solution. 'It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum.
' Guterres told the Security Council he was 'deeply concerned' about the 'clear violations of international humanitarian law' in Gaza after Israel cut off water, electricity, food and fuel. The IDF continued to strike the Gaza Strip, writing Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, that it had struck 400 military targets, including Hamas command centers, within the past 24 hours. The Hamas-run Health Ministry said hundreds of Palestinians were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes.
